Toronto After Dark Review: ‘Lifechanger’

October 20, 2018Sherry Li

Lifechanger, from director and writer Justin McConnell, is a thrilling ride from start to finish. It's a gritty, fast paced adventure that will keep viewers intrigued with a story filled not just with exciting kills but also a surprisingly compelling (albeit creepy) romance.

The story follows a shapeshifter, which takes the form of those it kills and must constantly keep killing to survive. However, he does have one soft spot — a woman (Lora Burke) that he chases, and whom he can't seem to forget, no matter what form he's in.

Though the film follows several actors as the shapeshifter, his narration helps to provide a depth to the movie that allows for each performance to stand out. Lifechanger is fun and fast-paced all the way through.

Lifechanger makes its Toronto premiere at the 2018 Toronto After Dark Film Festival. Its runtime is 1 hr. 24 min.
